The Rancho Mirage Woman's Club has raised $900,000 with our annual fundraisers, thanks to our members and supporters! Since 1963, we have donated to several local charities that benefit the children of our community.
THANK YOU!
Our 2023 Gala Fundraiser "The Roaring Twenties" was a huge success. THANK YOU to our donors, our advertising sponsors, our volunteers, our attendees, and all of our supporters! Without you, this would have been impossible! We are grateful and proud! We raised $57,000 which enabled us to give to the six charities below.
Pegasus Riding Academy: Provides "equine therapy" to a variety of special needs children starting from age 4. They are currently housing 11 horses and helping over 250 children.
Shelter From The Storm: A private facility providing comprehensive assistance & services to victims of domestic abuse of which two-thirds are children.
GPL - Grandparents Love: An organization dedicated to giving assistance to the needs of grandparents, or a grandparent, who are raising their grandchildren due to a variety of circumstances, whether it be through court order, death, abandonment or other domestic situations.
COD Child Development Center: Serves as the model-lab-demonstration program for child development & education at COD. The children at the center range from age 1-4 yrs.
Rancho Mirage Elementary School: Our contribution to the after-school programs continues to be the primary source of funding for this 98% socio/economic-disadvantaged school.
Rancho Mirage High School: Four outstanding seniors from income-challenged families will benefit from our help to assist them with the overwhelming cost & expense of further education.
2022 Recipients:
Children’s Discovery Museum - They are in a complete “restructure” and are making the museum attractive to a wider range of kids. Our donation will be matched 100% by the City of Rancho Mirage.
Coachella Valley History Museum - They provide educational classes and tours for all valley students. Junior Historians is an after-school program for children in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, at local low performing schools. They need money for equipment, etc.
Father’s Heart Ranch - A group home for abused and neglected boys, ages 6 - 12. They care for children by providing a safe and stable home environment for them so that they can heal from the abuse they have endured. It is located in Desert Hot Springs. Their goal is to provide skills that each boy can take with them through life.
Olive Crest is dedicated to preventing child abuse, to treatment and education of at-risk children, and preserving the family...One Life at a Time. Olive Crest is active in most high schools in the desert.
Pegasus Therapeutic Center provides equine-assisted therapy to all special needs children ages 4+. They currently serve over 250 youngsters. They need more equipment, saddles, etc.
Rancho Mirage Elementary School - Our donation will go toward materials for the after-school leadership academy which cultivates leadership skills through community service and experiences.
Rancho Mirage High School - Our donation will go toward 6 scholarships for outstanding senior students who will be attending college. Each student submits a 6-page application and was interviewed by our philanthropy
committee. All are from low-income families.
Variety of the Desert - They serve children up to age 18 who are disadvantaged or have a physical disability including but not limited to cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy and Down syndrome. They get no financial assistance from the national organization – a common misconception!
2020 Recipients:
Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club - Reading Program, this program offers year-round reading intervention with the assistance of retired teachers and educators. Many kids are not reading up to grade level. Some not even past the 3rd grade.
Debbie Chisolm Memorial Foundation - A “make-a-wish-come-true" for children in our Coachella Valley that are suffering and may not recover from catastrophic health conditions.
Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy - serves children of all ages and with a range of physical, emotional, behavioral and cognitive challenges. Current programming focuses on youth, with a goal to develop more programming to serve Wounded Warriors as well.
Rancho Mirage Elementary School - A continuation from last year's donation for after school Arts/Spanish/Music/Painting and Drawing Programs.
Additionally, our members donated much needed personal items and toiletries to Safe House of the Desert at our December meeting.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, RMWC donated pizzas to the front line workers at
Eisenhower Health and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
